Early Head Start serves pregnant women and children from birth to age 3. It provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services.
Eligibility is primarily based on family income (at or below the federal poverty guidelines). Children in foster care, families receiving public assistance (TANF or SSI), and children experiencing homelessness are also categorically eligible, regardless of income.
No. Head Start and Early Head Start services are provided at no cost to eligible families. This includes education, meals, health screenings, and family support services.
